Azimuthal Dependence in Diffractive Processes
Azimuthal distributions in high-energy processes give information about the helicity structure of diffractive reactions. I discuss predictions of several dynamical mechanisms in this context, both for electron-proton and for hadron-hadron collisions. 1 Azimuthal distributions in ep diffraction In this talk I give several examples of what azimuthal distributions can tell us about diffractive int...
متن کاملThe impact of PMSE and NLC particles on VLF propagation
PMSE or Polar Mesosphere Summer Echoes are a well-known phenomenon in the summer northern polar regions, in which anomalous VHF/UHF radar echoes are returned from heights ∼85 km. Noctilucent clouds and electron density biteouts are two phenomena that sometimes occur together with PMSE. Electron density biteouts are electron density depletion layers of up to 90%, which may be several kms thick. ...
متن کاملAzimuthal dependence of pion interferometry at the AGS
Two-pion correlation functions, measured as a function of azimuthal emission angle with respect to the reaction plane, provide novel information on the anisotropic shape and orientation of the pion-emitting zone formed in heavy ion collisions. We present the first experimental determination of this information, for semi-central Au+Au collisions at 2–6AGeV. The source extension perpendicular to ...
متن کاملAzimuthal angular dependence of decay lepton in e + e − → tt̄
We discuss top quark production and its subsequent decay for searching new physics at lepton colliders. The angular dependence of the decay leptons is calculated including both QCD corrections and anomalous γ/Z− tt̄ couplings. The off-diagonal spin basis for the top and anti-top quarks is shown to be useful to probe the anomalous couplings. TU-600 HUPD-0004 hep-ph/0008065 August 2000
متن کاملAzimuthal dependence of collective expansion for symmetric heavy-ion collisions.
Detailed studies of the azimuthal dependence of the mean fragment and flow energies in the Au+Au and Xe+CsI systems are reported as a function of incident energy and centrality. Comparisons between data and model calculations show that the flow energy values along different azimuthal directions could be viewed as snapshots of the fireball expansion with different exposure times. For the same nu...
